Base Isolation

 The purpose of a base isolation system is to protect structures from the damaging effects of seismic activity, such as earthquakes. 

Base isolation is a technique used in building design and construction that decouples the structure from the ground motion caused by an earthquake, reducing the transfer of seismic forces to the building. 

By separating the structure from its base the amount of energy that is transferred to the superstructure during an earthquake is reduced significantly. 


It has contributed in student’s better understanding of the behavior and effectiveness of base isolation in protecting structures from earthquake-induced damage, fostering innovation, and advancing the field of earthquake engineering.
