Void slabs Strengthening with Epoxy Coating

A voided slab is a concept that simply removes the inactive concrete from the slab reducing its weight. This also reduces the overall cost of construction.

To create the voids, epoxy-coated cardboard blocks were equally distributed in the slabs.

With the use of 16x16x6 cm blocks in different configurations, voided slab system reduced self-weight in the range of 12% to 24% in comparison with the Reinforced Cement Concrete (RCC) slab without affecting its strength.

This concept has wide scope of execution in construction industry in single storey as well as multistory buildings.
